Chautauqua, Wabaunsee Counties
Seth,
Two more are ready to go...Chautauqua and Wabaunsee counties. (Since Wabaunsee was primarily a transfer of standard text, I did an edit on this site instead of sending to Amy. It's good to go.)
Thanks,

NOTE Regarding Jan. 1
Seth,
Just a note to make sure of something. Please do NOT publish Geary County before Jan. 1. There are related issues I'm dealing with and I just want to make sure we don't mess that up -- they have specifically requested that we not take them live until Jan. 1 or afterwards.
Thank you,
Pat

Email, Contact Form, Sunflower District
Seth,
Terri in the Sunflower District sent me this note:
Is there an email contact form to use for all emails for site viewsers
to easily contact staff in offices that is not a mail to form? Since
"mail to" is the easiest way to encourage spam mail, I would really
like to not use a "mail to". I would prefer to use ASP's "CDOSYS" or
something similar.
Could you get in touch with Terri about this? Her contact is

Rock and Roll....
Pat
From today's training...
Seth, not all of these are your responsibility, but I'll go ahead and list them all here.
1-Ellis County needs the newsletter module added. They were also having troubles with the maps module. I think they put the maps module ontop of the site map, which is causing an error that I can't fix.
2-Johnson Co and Miami Co wants the newsletter module. They don't have a particular page yet but can we find out where we think it should go?
Question: if an email bounces back because it is wrong on the newsletter module, to whom does that email go?
Question: Can they have more than one map per site? One county was considering using the map module to show where off-site events are located.
I think that's it for you. I just have a few requests for Gamage, also.
Thanks,
Linda

User help
Hello Seth!
So, here's the deal. Amy Goode from Chautauqua County has all the rights to her site: admin, publisher, and intranet. However she says that when she's logged in, all that shows up is the help option, she can't edit any modules. I'm assuming she's got the edit box in the lower left corner checked since it still says help but I didn't ask. She said she logs into the other agent's account in order to change anything. Any solutions?
Thank ya muchly,
Chelsea

Time-stamped modules
Seth,
Other than the events module, is there a module in CMS that allows admins to put a time stamp on links. Woodson County wants to put a time stamp on news releases so that they appear and disappear at given times. They're currently using the links module to post news releases, but want to be able to time stamp those.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Pat

Meade County photos
Seth,
Any idea why the "Copyright @ KSRE" is showing up on the Meade Co. Web site?
http://isis.oznet.ksu.edu/meade/DesktopDefault.aspx
I talked with Elly Blasi in that office and she said she took a picture of the road, loaded the picture, and when she published the page, the "Copyright" showed up on the picture.
Once we resolve this, all we need to do to finish their site is help her with Web banners (I'm working on that). Thanks,
Pat

Southeast Ag Research Center
Seth,
Southeast Ag Research Center is ready to go live. Go ahead and put them live. There is one issue to be resolved, however; Joe Moyer has fixed their personnel (staff) pages, but for some reason they don't show up. When he's in edit mode, he sees the information on his end, but no one else can see it. I've checked "Edit Page Layout" to see who's allowed to view the pages and it says "All Users", so I'm not sure what the problem is. Can you help with this, too?
In the meantime, I think they're far enough along to go ahead and go live. We can work out that problem after that. Thanks!

Seth,
The Central Kansas District site is VERY SLOW in coming up. I tried to access the page and after about five minutes, I hit "Stop". They are saying that it takes 10 minutes or so -- I am guessing they have some REALLY HUGE files, maybe pictures, on their home page?? Can you check to see what the problem is with their site?
Thank you,

Hi Seth,
I received the following email from a Dickinson County agent.
I am having a problem with content panes. On both the 4-H page and the Leadership page, I've had to edit some information. On the leadership page the edited info was in the main content pane. After I published and updated, all the modules from the right mini pane moved to the content pane. If I look in the page layout view, the modules are assigned to the right mini pane.
The same thing happens with the 4-H page.
These are the two pages:
http://isis.oznet.ksu.edu/Dickinson/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=55
http://isis.oznet.ksu.edu/Dickinson/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=67
I tried to see if I could fix it but I don't understand why it's doing this. I made sure all the pixels were the correct amount because I know this happens when something's too big. They seem to all be at the right size though? I have no idea how to fix it... Could you help me out?
Thanks,
Chelsea

email it straight to my computer. I'm open for any suggestions on
how to do this.

I wasn't sure what to tell her. Can you let me know more about this, or else contact her directly (if you'd like). If you contact her, just copy me so I know it's taken care of. Her email address is

Doniphan County, CMS questions
Seth,
I got a call from Nathan, Doniphan County. He has questions about their CMS (which is already live). Call Nathan at 785-985-3623
Under documents...they're getting "Ag News" listed...they didn't put it there. Then, they went on later and it no longer was there. His words (basically): "We're getting some things popping up" on our site.
Is this related to anything we're doing on this end?
Thanks!

Sunflower District CMS site
Hey Seth,
These are two of the corrections for Sunflower District that I'm supposed to make:
-Internal links like the ones for "youth, family life, health ..." should be relative links so they will convert easily to www when the site goes live (Sethu's request).
-In the footer, the links to the three counties produce error messages; please fix these on this page:http://isis.oznet.ksu.edu/Sunflower/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=15"St. Fancis" should be St. Francis.
So my questions are: what does she mean by relative links that you're wanting and can you fix the links on the bottom of the pages? That's not really my area.
Thanks!
Chelsea

JoCo butterfly pages
Seth and Chelsea, the butterfly pages that Johnson County requested help on would work great with the advanced archives module, as it is used on the asi page (http://www.asi.ksu.edu/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=894). Could we get that module added to the Johnson County site, Seth? And Chelsea, when you get a chance, stop by and I'll show you how it can work for this purpose.
Thanks!

Hey Seth,
I'm supposed to do some edits for the College of Ag site. I don't have rights to get into it though. I tried going in as administrator to add myself but I guess that's only for county sites. Could you give me permission?

Johnson County 4-H Page?
Seth,
I got a voice mail from Adele Wilcoxsen in Johnson COunty that a 4-H volunteer found their CMS 4-H page through Google? She said she was calling you about this? Can you update me on whether she called and if there's a problem?
Thanks,

Changing Filenames to delete spaces
Seth,
Is there an easy way to replace filenames for documents in which ADMINS have used spaces? There are several PDF files on Finney County's site where they used spaces. Is there a way to avoid deleting those files and reloading them?
Serena wants to be able to change the filename and maintain the links. Can this be done?
Thanks,
Pat

Bourbon County, Take 2
Seth,
I walked Bourbon County through uploading the State Fair image and they are now ready on that page. Rest of the site is good to go, also. One hiccup they're having -- looks like their search engine is not working, either for "Web" or "Bourbon County". Could you double-check those? Once that's ready, take the site live. Thanks!

Seth,
Few things:
- Osage County, it won't let me delete the bottom Rodney Schaub (with the wildcat photo); I don't know why. Could you maybe do that?
- I know I should know this, but I haven't had to do it yet. How do I add events in the calendar module. I can't seem to figure it out.
- Crawford County would like a banner on the Home and Family page (of the picture that's on there: the grandma with her grandkids). How would I do this?
And I think that's all for now.
Thanks!
Chelsea

Hey Seth,
I have some county requests.
-Mcpherson County didn't like the little weather square on the home page being set on Hutchison. They were wondering if it could be changed to Mcpherson but if not, they said they'd rather not have it on there, if that's possible?
-Both Brown and Russell counties would like to have slideshow modules on their sites.
Thanks a bunch,

District sites final fixes
Hi, Seth. Here are a handful of fixes that we need addressed for the district sites.
1-
In Firefox, the district name falls off the black search box on the homepage.
2-How can we adjust the name that appears at the top of the banner? For example, if Central Kansas District wants it to read "Central Kansas District #3" can we make that change or do you have to do it yourself? Site settings wouldn't work for me.
3-I can't remember -- how can we add metadata to the sites? Is that still an option?
4-Amy wants to know if we have a spam filter on the feedback module.

Wyandotte County site
Hi, Seth. Someone (Elizabeth Duke) deleted the default banner category for Wyandotte County. Can you restore it and I'll explain to her the correct way to create banner categories?
Also, could we add a slide show module to their options?
Lower priority: they are asking for the module titlebar icons (like the option to remove the powercat and add a house). Can we get that added for them?

Good afternoon!

Also, could you please add three categories to the Johnson County's people module: Agents, Staff, and Coordinators.
Thanks!

Email link error
Today on the county training site, when we created a link for email within the html with title module, it entered the html instead of just linking to the mail. For example:
http://isis.oznet.ksu.edu/Countytraining/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=467
http://isis.oznet.ksu.edu/Countytraining/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=467
I seem to be having problems creating pages. Each time I go to add a new page and try to create a childpage, it deletes the parent page. I think that the News section of River Valley District needs to be restored. Do you know if there's something I'm not doing to prevent this from happening again? :-)
Thanks,
Sam

Sign in for sites (one or multiples?)
Can one site have multiple sign-in locations? Do we just duplicate the sign-in module, or is there a better way?
For example, Johnson County has an extensive section of their site that should be accessible only to master gardeners. They want to put a sign-in on the entrance to that section of the site. But they don't want the master gardeners to have to click one page to log-in, then navigate through the site to find the content they wanted to access. Does that make sense?
Something similar to what's on this TechWeb page would be great:
https://www.oznet.ksu.edu/techweb/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=726

Meade County Weather
The Meade office would like the weather name on their homepage changed from Liberal to Meade. They said they don't mind if the weather is actually from Liberal, but they need it to say Meade.
Also, the weather feature is still linking to the Riley County weather on most sites.
Thanks!

Personal details module, partial list
I’m working alphabetically down the list and have gotten to Geary County. So far, the following counties do not have a Personal Details module available on their site:
- Allen
- Anderson
- Brown
- Bourbon
- Butler
- Chautauqua
- Cherokee
- Coffey
- Cowley
- Crawford
- Dickinson
- Doniphan
- Elk
- Ellis
I'll keep working through the list as time allows this week. I hope to have it complete by Sunday night.
Help buttons on public view
Some of the county sites are showing the yellow "help" text in the title bar, even when I'm not logged in. So far, Cowley, Crawford, and Clark counties sites are doing it, but I'll make a full list once I get through all the sites. Is it doing this for others too?

Document Title
Do we train the users to change the 'Document title' before uploading documents to the document uploads page? If not they need to be trained to change the document title. This is critical because our Verity search engine shows the document title as the search result title for each document. So if the title is not changed, users will see irrelevant titles as search results even though the document as such is relevant.
This is an important step and it needs to be incorporated in our training modules too.

No Working Group Meeting May 7
Because I'm out-of-office this week and I know ya'll are swamped, we don't have a Monday meeting. My one request for this week is an update on the progress of the training modules. Any word?
FYI I'll be visiting with folks from Shawnee, Douglas, Johnson, Sedgwick, Wyandotte and other urban counties at this conference. I'll pass along the changes and options that are now available to their sites.

Weather Widget
The home page weather widget has been made optional for the county and area office websites. It can be switched ON/OFF using the Site settings page.
Johnson County Requests (Seth and Neal)
Seth: On the people module: Johnson County has an agent with an MPA (not a BS or Masters or PhD...an MPA) and would like that as an option for their dropdown. Is that possible or do you have a different solution for them?
Neal: Also, their photos in the people module are not looking good, even though Adele said she saved them at 72 dpi, 200 pixels wide. Any ideas?

Comanche County Site
I need the newest calendar module uploaded to the Comanche County site. Also, were we able to (could we) isolate each county's calendar? They don't need to see the dropdown list of all counties, and besides that list would get massive as more and more sites are created.
Also, the personal detail module isn't on their site yet. I tried to add it, but it wasn't one of the options in the dropdown list.
Thanks! Otherwise, there site is looking good and ready to go live next week, if we can.

County Template Change - Douglas, Sedgwick, Shawnee & Riley
Douglas, Sedgwick, Shawnee, and Riley has been switched to white background with purple header streched all the way across the top. This is going to be the standard template for the Local Unit webs.
Upgraded 'People Module' available
The upgraded 'People Module' is available for the Local Unit CMS websites. This module is an extended version of the original peoples module from the departmental CMS webs. Necessary functionality and graphical changes have been made to suit the county needs as suggested by Linda. Please visit the following 'Scenic County' web link to see the changes:

Welcome to Local Unit Web CMS blog
Hi All,
'County Web CMS' blog will track the development of Local Unit (County, Districts, Area Office) Content Management websites for K-State Research and Extension. Change management and Error handling are a big part of any website creation. I feel this blog can help the K-State Research and Extension Web working group to communicate effectively regarding County CMS changes and errors.
-Seth.
